New Year, New Updates

Last night after work,  I went to dinner with Sam. We commiserated or dating and kids. Her son did not do well in his first semester in college. Max is still more interested in escaping the area than securing a future. The guy Sam is dating ghosted her on New Year. She initially declined an invitation to a party he was having, when she later tried to accept, he did not get back to her, and well, Ava is Ava.

On my first day back to work, I was only fifty emails behind. That is not bad. I like getting back to my routine. I am sure I will be sick of it by February. I've decided I need to start making some renovations to the condo while I can still do them on my own. Nothing major. I need to repaint a few areas. I will make a list and start tacking them during these cold months.

I exchanged a few texts with Firefly last night. She gets out of rehab today. That is good. The bad news is she is pregnant. That explains some of the weight she has been gaining. I'd guess she is around two months along. Just another wrong choice. She not taking it seriously yet, but I think she might be in shock. I am going to encourage her not to have the baby. It would not be a good decision for her or the baby.

Tinkerbell started her new job yesterday and wound up coming home with a 102-degree fever. She got the buster a few days before New Year but spent New Year's Eve in the same bar where Tech got covid last September.

As for me, all is quiet and coldly comfortable. Being well adjusted can be uninterestingly boring. Last night, Sam mentioned that she thought my life with Billie and became uninterestingly boring. Perhaps, but there was comfort in that too. For now, I don't have any plans to shake things up. Yes, I miss the excitement that comes with the added drama, but it is never good. So, for now, you only get to hear about the drama of those I know.

  1. Firefly being preggy is not good news as she can't take care of herself, let alone a Child. Yet, it will ultimately be her decision to make and I personally would not weigh in on such a weighty and deeply personal issue that she will have to come to terms with for the rest of her life, whatever she decides. Sorry Sam's Kid didn't do well in his first Semester of College, I had one Adult Grandchild, whose very Intelligent, Wash Out in her first Year of College and she felt awful about it since her Parents funded it, but, it was the right decision for her to Opt Out earlier than later. As it turned out she and Hubby had a Baby shortly afterwards and now she's preggy with No. 2 so it is doubtful she'd of put Career over Family anyway. Happy New Year, may 2022 play out better than the last few Years has...

    1. I said my piece on the issue. From here on out I will support her decision, emotionally but not in any way financially.

  2. I wouldn't be surprised if the baby is raised by someone else. Parenting is difficult as it is, for it's an unsurmountable obstacle.

    1. Yes, I believe the baby will be raised by someone else ultimately. With a good portion being supported by the government.

  3. I'm guessing painting will be a project when I retire.

  4. Sometimes it's nice to not have the drama despite how much you may miss it.

  5. Well raising T-Rex was always Tinkerbell's biggest accomplishment, but she was never as bad as Firefly and had help.

  6. I don't really have drama in my life, maybe this is why I read so much. Lol. I would do the same with Firefly; however, I've moved into the position of trying to not give advise to people who don't ask for it. I am very good at solving problems, even my own (even if I don't put action behind my own solutions). I guess I feel like, why say something that just falls on deaf ears. Also, being codependent and giving advice makes me shift my priorities to others and not myself.

    1. With Firefly, I am just watching the show unfurl. She will be making her own mistakes.
