I spent over two hours on the phone switching my wireless carrier from Verizon to ATT on Saturday. I wanted to bundle my phone and internet for a 25% discount on my phone service. The first customer representative was friendly to talk with, but he fucked things up. I spent an hour undoing what he did, but now I have to wait till Thursday to place a new order. What a headache.
I also went and signed up at BJs. It is a bulk food club, like Cosco. After the cashback, it will cost me $5 for the year. I don't really buy food in bulk, but I figure I can spend enough money there each month to make it worthwhile. The real reason I signed up is for the cheaper gas. Right, now, gas is costing me about $100 a week.
Due to this inflation, I am looking for ways to cut my monthly costs. Being fiscally responsible is so much work. I need to stop vaping. That would save me a bundle. Unfortunately, I have not been able. I enjoy it too much. I would cut back on the number of times I see Ava, but she is looking at getting a full-time job in July, so I think her availability will wain anyway.
I am not in a hurry to replace her if it does. At least not until the fall. I seem to have better luck in the fall. Which is unfortunate because I really like being active in the summer. Still, having some around in the winter gets me through the holidays.
I haven't heard back from Tinkerbell yet. I think the best-case scenario is they put a patch over the relationship. It might hold till T-Rex is out of high school, but she will be thinking about leaving again once he does. People seldom change.
I am considering changing my cell plan to Google Fi, which is like $35/month. It helps that I work from home full time, and don't really need to access much wi-fi when I'm out and about. The last time I changed my internet plan, the representative messed everything up as well. It's so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteEven when I was single, I used my Costco membership almost every week for fresh vegetables (that were way cheaper than the local grocer), olive oil, rice, egg whites, and other dry goods. I split my membership with my coworkers wife, and we've had this going on for like 8 years now even though they live in San Diego. That's really the key move, finding someone to split it with.
That would be a great benefit to find someone to split it with, however being the loner I am giving the second card to my son. He can benefit from it. I still will save on gas. BJ's does not have the best selection of goods, but enough for me to make it worth while.
DeleteI think a lot people is change things, to cut corner where they can.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
It would be irresponsible of me not to save where I can.
DeleteThis is why when I change things over, I prefer to do them online and not via phone. Talking to other humans is a chore for me. Good luck. Hopefully it'll take the next time you call.
ReplyDeleteI started the process on line, but because ATT does not have a way to combine your accounts online, I ended up with a representative and going down this rabbit hole.
DeleteI'm so lucky I do not need to drive to work! What line of work will Ava be joining this time?
ReplyDeleteI would save $50 a week by not driving to work.
DeleteWho knows what Ava will get into this time. She's talked about getting into one of the auto companies, but they are cutting people right now.
DeletePeople rarely change. I use Fios for my internet & T-Mobile for my phone. I pay $58 for unlimited from T-Mobile; I get a discount on the phone because I work for Home Depot. I pay 39.99 a month for high-speed internet because T-Mobile offers wireless high-speed internet for $50 a month and there's a tower less than half a mile from my house and Verizon is terrified that I'll switch.
ReplyDeleteI pay $50 for each now, but my phone will be more like $30 once I switch.
