Dune

Saturday, Max talked me into going to see the new Dune movie. I cannot remember the last time I was in a theatre. I read the books when I was Max's age. I don't remember much of the plot. The movie was better than the original Dune, but I still think it was slow and would have made a better Amazon Prime series.

Max thinks it would be too expensive to be a TV series. I disagree. There is a lot of lore that needs to be explained.  This could stretch out the movie to a TV show without increasing the budget. It was better than the original Dune. Primarily because we have computer graphics today.

Sunday, I received both my COVID booster and the flu shot. I feel achy and sore today, but nothing terribly out of the ordinary. I was supposed to go out with Jay and Alexis this evening. However, I have a meeting with China and Japan.  I have meetings three nights this week. These need to wrap up. I don't mind one a week, but three cuts into my ability to do things at night.

  1. I got a Shingles vaccine and a flu shot, does that beat you booster and a flu shot?

  2. The nerd in me loved the new Dune movie - the problem with the old one was not just lack of special effects. The old scenes of the Arkonnen were a joke

    1. Wow you are a nerd ;). I read the first three books, but I wouldn't classify them as one of my favorites.

  3. Omg, I wouldn’t be able to lift my arm if I had two shots in one day, I’m going Friday for just the flu shot and dread it.

Was Sting in the first Dune? That’s my only memory of it.

    1. Sting was in the first Dune. They give the shots in alternating arms. The COVID shot made my arm sore, but the other I didn't even feel.

  4. I got my Booster as a Walk-In but so far they've been out of the Shingles and Flu Vaxxes, both of which I want to get so I'm fully Vaxxed for all the horrible shit you can get once older and be miserable enduring or trying to survive. My Granddaughter was the last one to go to a Movie and she was disappointed in it too, I haven't even seen any I'd like to spend money to watch on the Big Screen, I barely want to watch them on TV.

  5. I enjoy reading. I am a picky reader. I've been told, I am picky about a lot of things.

  6. I enjoyed Dune. I never watched the original. I don't really care for dystopian fantasies like Blade Runner, so I wasn't expecting to like Dune, but I was able to hold interest. Plus Oscar Isaac <3. I got Moderna, so no booster yet. I did get the flu shot, but barely a sore arm. Much improvement from previous years experience.
