The screen door slams, Mary’s dress sways.
Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays.Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey, that’s me, and I want you only
Don’t turn me home again.
I just can’t face myself alone again.
Don’t run back inside,
Darling, you know just what I’m here for.
So you’re scared, and you’re thinking
That maybe we ain’t that young anymore.
Show a little faith; there’s magic in the night,
You ain’t a beauty, but, hey, you’re alright.
Oh, and that’s alright with me...Thunder Road, Bruce Springsteen
I found myself singing this last night while building my tower. I don't know why. I am not a big Bruce Springsteen fan. I haven't heard this song in years, but it is my favorite. It paints a picture so vividly I feel like I have seen it. It doesn't have much to do with this post, though.
Friday night, I went to dinner with Tinkerbell and Tech. We ate a Finn's in New Baltimore. I ordered a burger. Something I rarely have unless I go out to eat. The food is okay, but the restaurant is small, crowded, and loud. It was a warm night. We walked from Finns to the Town Pump for a beer after. We sat outside.
My ear has been bothering me this weekend. No apparent reason why. Saturday, I picked up the twins, and we went to Dairy Queen. They stayed for a bit, but I was not in the mood for company. I worked on my tower this weekend. I am 70% satisfied with it at this point.
A failed version of the roof.
I think I need to reduce the amount of beige between the windows on the top level. It looks too dull. The fireplace breaks it up nicely on one side. I spent most of the time playing with the roof. Once again, it is hard to make round out of square. It is a heavy piece. If I started it again, I could reduce the number of pieces, but I will move one and create a scenario for it. I still picture it on a hill with a bridge leading to it.

I love that you are a closet lego artist.
ReplyDeleteOh am pretty open about it. :)
Deleteooooohhh I'm so looking forward to seeing it with the hill and bridge!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the ear. My husband has some similar issues and has yet to find a solution.
I will probably make one more edit to the tower before I start on the hill. I have already started on the bridge.
DeleteRemember, both beige and gray are neutral colors that do not compliment each other. This I learned from managing a paint department for 4 years. Did you consider putting a red shield or crest in the middle of the beige. Is there such a thing in Legos?
ReplyDeleteYes there is. I will try adjusting the colors one more time and adding some gingerbread to the design.
Deletea debate raged on the internet for years as to whether the lyric is:
ReplyDeleteMary's dress sways or Mary's dress waves
Springsteen himself recently confirmed that it's "sways"
a dress waving is more my style but whatevs
I can picture that scene. I am still a hopeless romantic at heart.
