The Gladiator is at the dealer. Friday, the truck felt as if there was play in the front end. I rotated the tires on Friday night at home in the garage. A task not easily performed even with jack stands and a floor jack.
I did not do any driving at high speeds over the weekend, so I did not notice the issue getting worse, but by Monday, it was evident something was wrong, and by Tuesday, it felt like I was driving on ice at high speeds and the traction control light came on.
When I rotated the tires, I checked the wheel spacers and made sure everything was tight. I've read that the 2020 Gladiators have steering box issues and are just a few steps away from a recall. I hope the swap out the steering box as part of the repair. There is supposed to be a new part.
Meanwhile, I have been working from home until I find out how long this repair will take. There is talk about steering boxes being in short supply because of Covid and the port situation. Dealers have a hard time getting the new steering boxes because the plants are hogging the supply.
Tinkerbell wants me to go up to Mackinaw Island with her bunch on the holiday weekend. The plan was for me to drive. Between work and the Gladiator issue, I am a bit stressed.
I can understand you being stressed. Hopefully it can be fixed soon.
ReplyDeleteWell they are working on it. Seem to be a problem I caused.
DeleteMay the stress ease up and you go up to Mackinaw Island and have a stress free decompression weekend. That should bring you back to Center. I suppose that COVID is going to cause a lot of disruption in supply chains and that the Medical System will be near collapse if things don't improve soon. I don't like to have to think about any of it, too dark and too pessimistic.
ReplyDeleteIt is dark, but true. The medical system is being stressed in many areas.
DeleteI don't know anything about vehicles. I think things are much safer that way.
ReplyDeleteI know just enough to be dangerous. As in this case where I put the spacers behind my wheels and one came lose causing the problems.
DeleteUh, car issues are always a big pain. Sounds like a long drive - is there a back-up car that you can use instead of the Gladiator for the weekend?
ReplyDeletePersonally, I decided that on Saturday a day at my sister in law swimming pool is in the plans :-)
I haven't been swimming all summer that would be fun. I used to have a back up car, but not anymore. It used to come in handy for everyone. With Firefly in rehab, there is no second car around.
DeleteYes, I love and hate my truck some days.
ReplyDeleteHey Bath, how are things?
ReplyDeleteThings are not all sunshine and roses.
DeleteHope the Gladiator is as good as new, Bathwater. Hope they can get it fixed in time for the long weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe Gladiator is not as good as new. There is another issue with the U joints that needs to be looked at but it takes so long when you take it to a dealer.
