As some have guessed, Firefly first week home was a bit of a struggle. It is smoothing out. She is on Suboxone and has appointments with a psychiatrist and an addictionologist. I am dealing with a bit of a horny insomniac. Which I am not complaining about. There is nothing wrong with falling asleep after sleep and waking up to sex.
We are still making plans for a sweeping 25 day vacation across the southwest. It should be a once in a lifetime adventure. Sure I may go back out west, but will I have 25 days off and a willing companion again before I retire (which I never plan on doing).
Today I started investing on upgrades to the gladiator for the trip. I am adding a dash cam, racks for rotopax and holding equipment to things we might need on the road including first aid kits.
It is only six weeks away. I have been looking at cities and destinations along the way: Nashville, Hot Springs, Galveston Isle, Carlsbad, Roswell, Tuscon, Mojave Desert, Grand Canyon and back through Utah and Colorado as weather permits. We are not booking things far in advance just picking and choosing as we go although we will probably celebrate Christmas around Tucson.
I drove across country when I got out of the surface, from Seattle to San Diego, and then across to Texas and then up to Pennsylvania. It was very interesting. We are a very large country.
ReplyDeleteI have not been out west for over twenty years. I am sure it will be fun.
DeleteNice to be able to plan a trip and have something to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice. I hope the virus does not ruin it.
DeleteYour trip sounds like so much fun! I have always wanted to see the Grand Canyon.
ReplyDeleteI want to do something different. Something Billie and I never could do because of her addiction.
DeleteI'm kinda jealous... we're again in lockdown here.
ReplyDeleteAnd just out of curiosity... what will you do with a compressor?
Will you be camping over your trip? And why would you need a rotopax? do you really have such long roads without places to fill your gas tank?
It's really difficult when you grow up in Europe to imagine that! Well it might be the case in Scandinavia... but not in the rest of Europe definitely! Don't get me wrong - I am originally from a low populated area, and my parents live next to one of the largest wild areas of Southern Europe... but there are no roads there! and it's still probably just about 100 miles long to cross it!
The Jeep Truck only gets 16 to 18 miles a gallon. We have areas you can drive off road for miles. Better safe than sorry. The compressor is so you can reduce the air in the tires when you go off into the sand and mud and then you can refill them when you are out. The truck is made for high speed travel in dessert off road conditions. I intend to try it out there.
DeleteI hope you have fun when you go.
ReplyDeleteI am trying not to get my hopes up too early but I hope so too.
